Birutė - Your Lithuanian Instructor

My journey as a language instructor began at Vytautas Magnus University (previously Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences), where I have been teaching Lithuanian Language and Culture Summer Courses since 2013.

Currently, I serve as Co-director and Lithuanian Language Teacher at the San Diego B. Brazdžionis Lithuanian School.

I have also contributed to the wider field of Lithuanian language education through seminars and workshops for Lithuanian language teachers all over the world. My seminars cover a variety of topics, including interactive teaching methods and how to teach language online.

In addition to my years of classroom experience, I am also a published poet. In 2022, I won the Lithuanian Writers’ Union’s national First Book Competition for my book Sumokėjau alyvmedžio lapais, which was later awarded both the Zigmas Gėlė-Gaidamavičius and the Young Jotvingis literary prizes. I have been an active member of the Lithuanian literary community for the past twelve years, serving as a writer and organizer while participating in the largest literary events in the nation. My love of literature allows me to be more creative in my classrooms, helping students develop greater sensitivity to the Lithuanian tongue.
